Merriott Bowls Club is a friendly, successful, and growing club that warmly welcomes new members — men and women alike — from complete beginners to experienced bowlers.

This season, the club is enjoying a full and varied programme of play, with more matches than in recent years. We take part in Triples and Fours leagues, friendly matches, a new bowlers’ league, internal club competitions, and much more. This wide range of bowling opportunities ensures there is something for everyone, whether you are new to the game or have years of experience.

Bowls is a fantastic sport for all ages, combining outdoor enjoyment with friendly competition in a relaxed and social atmosphere. At Merriott, most of our matches are mixed, offering equal opportunities for both ladies and men — something that sets us apart from many other clubs.

Why not give bowls a try this year? Join us at our Open Day at 10:00am on Saturday 25th April, or come along to one of our regular club mornings at 9:45am every Monday from 20th April, or 6:00pm on most Thursdays. No equipment is needed — just flat-soled shoes such as trainers. There is no obligation to join; simply an opportunity to try bowling, meet members, and learn more about the club.

The membership fee for 2026 is £35.00 for new members. In your first year, you can borrow club bowls and benefit from free coaching to help you get started.
