The 2026 season started with the annual President’s team versus Captain’s team match which was played in good humour and ended with a clear win for the President’s side.
Our first friendly of the season was at home against Lyme Regis with each club winning two rinks eack but Merriott taking the glory on points.
This was followed a few days later with the annual Club Pairs Day. Eighteen teams played four games each, with only one team – Chris Kitto and Phil White winning all four of their games and thereby taking the trophy.
Our first Wessex Fours League game of the season was against a very strong Ilminster team in near arctic conditions. On this occasion Ilminster took the honours.
However a few days later our second Wessex Fours fixture was at home against Gillingham and this time Merriott came out on top with an overall win.
