There have been occasions in June when the phrase Flaming June was quite possibly used while cursing certain events, while at other times it has certainly described the weather.
In our leagues we have had wins and loses, with no clear pattern as to who, when or why. We have also had to cancel a match as it was too wet, and another because it was too hot.
The current league tables as published show Merriott at the top of the Wessex Mixed Fours league. The clubs in the league have played quite a varied number of games and so the order may well change as more games are played. At the moment the much bigger clubs Ilminster and Yeovil have a slightly higher average points per game played.
In the Triples, in which Merriott are new this year, we are still in fifth place out of 10. As we play different skips in this league and players in different positions, this is an excellent first year position.
Regretfully the men lost their Turnbull Cup game against Watchet, but the club won the Wessex Fours Cup round against Ilminster.
In July we have a mix or friendlies, a run of Triples League matches, and then a run of Fours league games. It will be interesting to see where we are come the end of July.
